Mr Cameron is featured in a typically relaxed pose, wearing a dark Paul Smith suit teamed with white shirt and teal tie.    The figure cost £150,000 and took four months to create; the Prime Minister was involved in its creation, sitting for sculptors at Portcullis House.

“We are pleased to welcome David Cameron as the British Prime Minister and are delighted that Samantha Cameron has been the first to meet his figure on our very own Downing Street”, said Liz Edwards, spokesperson for Madame Tussauds London.  “Guests will now get the opportunity to stand shoulder to shoulder with the country’s elected leader at one of the world’s most famous addresses and we are sure they will love it.” 

The new Downing Street set will be one of the key features in the attraction’s World Stage area, which is already home to leading statesmen including President Barack Obama who is portrayed in a replica of The Oval Office. 

Visitors to the theme park and guests at the safari-themed Holiday Inn Chessington will be able to enjoy an African inspired adventure starring Grevy’s Zebras, Sitatunga Antelopes and the Scimitar Horned Oryx as they graze quietly on the field at the back of the hotel. A raised wooden walkway will lead adventurers to a viewing tower in the middle of the field, where evening feeding sessions, animal talks and close encounters around the watering hole will all be part of the adventure.

Thursday 25^th March - Madame Tussauds London sparked a fan frenzy today as a brand new wax figure of Hollywood’s hottest young actor, Robert Pattinson joined the A-List at the top attraction much to the approval of his adoring fans.

Residing in a specially created VIP section of Madame Tussauds’ A-List party area, the British born star’s figure mirrors his rugged style with an open collared shirt and skinny trousers, trademark sultry expression and tousled hair.   To mark his debut a group of his most ardent fans were invited to be the first to step into his exclusive VIP room and “meet” their hero. 

“The figure looks really great! Just like him – his hair is spot on.” Said Katie Sear, 23 from Luton. She continued: “It’s amazing, almost like meeting the real thing! I’m sure people are going to love it; he is just gorgeous!”

Liz Edwards, Madame Tussauds spokesperson said: “R-Pattz is one of the hottest celebs on the planet.  We are delighted to be able to give them the chance to cosy up with their idol here at Madame Tussauds and judging by the reactions of the first to meet him here this morning he is set to top our “most kissed list of celebrities very quickly!”

The figure, took four months to create at a cost of £150,000 and will be in good company as he joins a host of other top celebrities at Madame Tussauds from screen superstars including Jonny Depp, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, to fashion icons like Kate Moss.

“It is rumoured these crabs can grow as big as four metres,” said curator Graham Burrows, “big enough to straddle a car.

“Crabzilla certainly lends credence to those claims.”

The colossal crustacean has been flown to the UK from Japan and is ultimately bound for Belgium to take up permanent residence in a specially adapted display tank at a Sea Life centre in Blankenberge.

Having been quarantined in Dorset, however, Sea Life marine experts agreed that UK animal lovers deserved a chance to see him before he crosses the Channel.

The National Sea Life Centre’s open-topped ray tank has the icy cold waters Crabzilla needs, and will be his home until the end of March.

“He will absolutely dwarf the other crabs in there, but he’s not aggressive and they should have nothing to worry about,” said Graham.

The Japanese spider crab, Macrocheira kaempferi, is the largest known member of the ‘arthropod’ family…which includes all invertebrates with jointed limbs.

Crabzilla’s front limbs are his feeding arms, each over five feet long and ending in sizeable claws.

Found in the Pacific off Japan, the giant spider crabs are most common in waters between 200 and 300 metres deep but have been known to live as deep as 800 metres.

A Japanese delicacy when salted and steamed, eating them is however forbidden in the spring, when they lay their eggs.
