Is this the same as a Merlin Annual Pass?
Not exactly, the Merlin Platinum Trade Up Pass is a special offer we’re trialling – exclusively offered to Gold Passholders who purchased between 1st May & 30th June 2026. The Pass offers the same perks as a Platinum Merlin Annual Pass but lasts for 9 months from the date of purchase, as opposed to a Merlin Annual Pass which lasts for one year minimum. Gold Passholders who purchase the Merlin Platinum Trade Up Pass will receive a new Pass, with an expiry date 9 months from the date of purchase, and their existing Gold Pass will be cancelled.

When can I buy the Platinum Trade Up Pass?

What happens if I purchase the Merlin Platinum Trade Up Pass and then want to cancel?
Once you’ve purchased a Platinum Pass Trade Up, you can cancel it in line with the cancellation terms outlined in your T&Cs. If you choose not to cancel within 14 days of purchase, the Platinum Pass Trade Up will become non-refundable.
If you do cancel within this period, your Platinum Pass Trade Up will end and your original Gold Pass will be reinstated.
When will my Merlin Platinum Trade Up Pass expire?
As the Merlin Platinum Trade Up Pass is only 9-months long, it will expire in 9 months from the date of purchase, and as such, your new Pass will have a different expiry date to your existing Gold Pass. Please see below as an example:
e.g. Joe bought his Gold Pass on 28 February 2026 and is due to expire on 28 February 2027. He switches to the Merlin Platinum Trade Up Pass on 30 March 2026. He enjoys the benefit of the Merlin Platinum Trade Up Pass from 30 March 2026 until 30 December 2026. His new Merlin Platinum Trade Up Pass will not cover 31 December 2026 to 28 February 2027 like his previous Platinum Pass would have done.
Make sure you check your expiry date before pre-booking and visiting attractions.
What happens when my Merlin Platinum Trade Up Pass expires?
When your Merlin Platinum Trade Up Pass comes to an end, you’ll have the option to renew into a standard 12-month Essential, Gold, or Platinum Merlin Annual Pass. Discounted renewal rates are available for both Gold and Platinum tiers. The 9-month pass is a trial promotional offer and currently isn’t available to renew.
Do I get any Perks with my Merlin Platinum Trade Up Pass?
Yes, you receive all the perks of a standard Platinum Merlin Annual Pass! See full details here. Your Merlin Platinum Trade Up Pass is a 9-month long Pass and will expire 9-months after date of purchase.
How is the over £375 value of the perks & benefits calculated?
Over £375 is an estimate pro-rated value from the £500 annual benefits value of the 12-month Platinum Merlin Annual Pass.
This estimate is based on average Passholder visitation, assuming multiple visits across participating attractions, with typical spend on retail, food and beverage, and paid experiences. Actual value will vary depending on how often you visit, which attractions you attend, and how much you choose to spend.
“Perks & benefits” primarily consist of discounts and offers (e.g. on entry, retail, food and beverage, or experiences), rather than free products, tickets or merchandise, unless otherwise stated.
The estimated value is indicative only and may vary depending on the start date of your pass, including seasonal factors (such as peak or off-peak periods) which may affect availability, pricing and redemption opportunities. As a result, the achievable value may be lower than the stated estimate.
T&Cs and exclusions apply, offer ends 31/07/26. Passholders who trade up to a Platinum Trade Up Pass will have a new expiry date 9 months from their purchase date, and the new Pass begins immediately on date of purchase.
