  • Merlin Annual Pass

Adventure Map 2

The Bear Grylls Adventure in Birmingham is a unique and exciting attraction that offers visitors the opportunity to test their limits and push themselves to the extreme. Located just outside the main NEC Building, and right by Resorts World, this adventure centre is inspired by the popular TV personality, survivalist, and former SAS Trooper, Bear Grylls.

The activity centre offers a range of thrilling activities that are designed to challenge and excite visitors of all ages – pushing you to your limits!

High Ropes 2

How many spaces are there for each activity?

To ensure safety and an enjoyable and manageable experience for each of our guests, the group size for each activity is small. This means that sometimes you may not be able to book in as a large family or group. To combat this, we suggest where possible that you split your group when booking (and searching for) activities.

It’s important to remember that this attraction is not like other Merlin Attractions such as SEA LIFE or Alton Towers Resort. Each activity is run individually by a specially trained instructor and due to health & safety there are limited spaces available for both Passholders and non-Passholders alike.

Some activities such as the High Ropes allow for more people to take part safely and so there is likely to be more availability for larger groups. However, for other activities like Rifle shooting there are places for only 4 people per session, so unfortunately, unless you split your group up you will not be able to book into this activity for a party larger than 4.

Diving 2

Which activities are FREE with a Merlin Annual Pass?

Where space is available Passholders may book up to 4 activities a day. Currently the activities FREE to Passholders are:

  • High Ropes – One of the tallest high ropes courses in Europe!
  • Archery – Test your aim with long bows.
  • Climbing – Face your fear by scaling replicas of real mountain terrain
  • Shooting – Ready, aim and fire at the targets with scoped rifles.
  • Axe Throwing - unleash your inner lumberjack

You also get a DISCOUNT on the following activities:

  • Dive – 25% off
  • Snorkel 25% off
  • iFly – 50% off

Ifly 2

Can I watch while my family participates in an activity?

Many of the activities have viewing platforms where observers can cheer on participants. However, there are some activities where this isn’t possible, including rifle shooting. So please check the age requirements for each activity and ensure that if children must be accompanied by an adult that there is also a viewing platform, or that an adult is also booked for that activity.

What food and drink options are there?

The Bear Grylls Adventure offer a wide selection of food and drinks at The Hub including pizza, nachos, hot dogs, sandwiches, and a selection of hot and cold beverages. They have a range of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan choices available. If you have a severe food allergy, please let the Food and Beverage team know and they can advise you on which products may be suitable for you.

Visitors are also welcome to bring their own food and drink! However, alcohol is not permitted.

Cafe 2

What should I wear to the attraction?

Please wear clothes that are comfortable and that you can move freely in. Be sure to wear lace up trainers, activewear, and please avoid jewellery, skirts, heels, and loose clothing. You may bring a backpack if you like, but this must be kept in a locker during your activity. These lockers are free of charge, and you will be given a wristband to access the locker. For Diving or Snorkelling experiences, you must also bring swimwear to wear under your provided wetsuit as well as a towel!

Rifle 2

How do I book an activity?

You can pre-book 3 activities via the pre-book portal, or you can book the old way  here. If you would like to do more than 3 activities in one day, please ensure you book 3 in the portal, and then any additional activities via this link. (Simply scroll past the FAQs section where you’ll find how to book.)

Top Tip: Is an activity coming up with no availability? Try searching again with a smaller group number to see how many spaces come up. You might find it shows no availability for a group of 6 to book together, but there may back-to-back slots for a group to split into 3 and 3, for example.

Climbing 2

How do I cancel my pre-book if I am unable to attend?

Due to the limited capacity at The Bear Grylls Adventure it’s very detrimental when Passholders pre-book and do not turn up. This results in spaces not being used, and it also means that other Passholders who could have used those spaces miss out! So please make sure you cancel your booking if you are not able to attend. You can do so by contacting our help centre or by filling out the cancellation form.

Frequently Asked Questions

To ensure they have the right staffing levels, the team release slots for activities in blocks. This means that if you’re looking to book 6 months in advance the spaces may not be released yet. So, check back later or contact the attraction for more information.

The Bear Grylls Adventure is not open Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. The full opening hours are as follows*:

  • Thursday: 11:30 am – 5 pm
  • Friday: 11:30 am – 5 pm
  • Saturday: 9am – 6 pm
  • Sunday: 9 am – 5pm

*Opening times correct at time of posting (April 2023)

When searching for availability you are asked to include the number of guests attending. This means that if you select a number of guests higher than the capacity for an activity, no availability will show up. For example, if you are searching for Rifle shooting availability with 5 guests selected, no spaces will show up as the maximum no. of guests is 4.

So, if you’re finding no availability for an activity, try searching again by splitting your group number in half!

For more information on accessibility please visit this page. Should you require special arrangements before a visit (for example guests who are sensitive to loud noises, or who have a disability), please get in touch with the team at info@beargryllsadventure.com.

You may only book up to 3 activities in one day through the portal. We are working on amending this. In the meantime you may book 3 activities in the portal, and then book any extras through this link. Simply scroll past the FAQS section on the website and you’ll find your link to book.
